Space Chemistry Consortium

In 2014, the Space Chemistry Consortium was founded by the Flow Chemistry Society with the aims of:

  • bringing together people from the chemical society interested in expanding their knowledge via channelling chemistry and chemical technologies to space industry & research
  • initiating a scientific network to foster creation of a new space industry segment
  • developing international R&D projects and collaborations
  • bringing flow chemistry/microfluidics solutions into space applications

Since then, the Consortium has grown to a substantial organization with a continuously growing influence to this newly born science and industry. The Consortium, co-organized by InnoStudio, has now more than 40 internationally renowned members from academia and industry who are collaborating regularly in research projects, developing new partnerships, submitting joint grants, as well as participating in the Space Chemistry Symposium series, being the world No.1 event for this specific topic.

The objectives of the Consortium harmonize well with the global space research goals of the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG). The Consortium Organizing Committee is committed to continue discussions with the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) in order to have space chemistry represented and acknowledged appropriately all around the world.
